Baseball Season 2012 Begins

Tysons first game was today!  He was soooo excited.  Tyson wasn't supposed to play today because two weeks ago he hurt his wrist/hand on the trampoline.  We finally took him to the doctor 8 days after he hurt it, because it was still hurting and swollen.  The doctor said it's either a sprain or a hairline fracture, but decided not to x-ray, since hairline fractures often don't show up on x-rays, and they wouldn't want to cast it anyway.  They just want him to not use if for another week.  He said it was feeling better, so he played and it seems fine.

Lucky boy to have dad as coach!

Sydney in Softball

Sydney is a good hitter, and a fast runner!

National Federation of Music Festival, Level 1

Sydney was entered in level one for the National Federation of Music Festival.  There were 5 students in her time slot, all of them boys except for Sydney!  One of the boys has Sydney's same teacher, and I thought those two played the best by far.  The students are scored individually, not against each other.  We will find out later in the week how Sydney did.  She will recieve a ribbon in a catagory: Superior, Exellent, Satisfactory, or Needs Improvement.  I'm anxious to see how she did!  She didn't seem very nervous.  Not excited either.  But she was serious, hard to get her to smile.

More Bike Riding

Tyson was a little jealous that he wasn't on the previous bike riding blog so included him in some of these pictures and videos.  There is a video of him at bottom showing off his tricks.

Easter Morning 2012

Easter morning was great, as usual.  The kids went downstairs together to see if the Easter Bunny had come, and he had.  I don't think I have ever seen anyone eat as much candy as Carson did on this day. It included candy in the morning, candy at church and after church, candy at Grandma's with the egg hunt, and Easter desserts after dinner.  He must have gotten that from Grandpa Smith!

The Esplins Visit

Shannon decided to bring her family and come visit during her spring break.  I took all the kids horse back riding today.  Although Carson looks scared here, he really wasn't.  He loves every minute.  I think it's just his "fake" posed smile for the camera.

Tyson has loved to play with the Esplin boys.  Today they made sling shots and bows with sticks and rubber bands.

We also went on a hike in the forest behind the barn.

Sledding Trip

We took the kids sledding last week.  There was so much snow you couldn't walk without sinking up to your thighs.  The mountains had been receiving one to two feet of snow per day for the few day prior to us going up there.  I was still sick and not feeling well, so most I sat around and took pictures.  I think the kids enjoyed the snow fort the most.

Our Biggest Snow Storm Yet!

Amazingly, our biggest snow happened in the end of March!  I know it's not a lot, but it's more than we usually get.  It's the first time this year we able to make a snowman.

Carson Rides a Bike

Here is Carson's first day of riding a bike and age three and half!  I told him he was ready and he got really excited and eager to try.  Starting and stopping is still tricky for him, but as soon as we have some more good weather he will get lots of practice.
